24K Gold is one of the more current songs we perform (originally released by Bruno Mars in late 2016). We love performing it live, because it has such a great upbeat party feel to it. 24K Gold also shows off Boogie and the Yo-Yoz’ musical diversity. We especially like the part at the beginning where John Leja uses a vocoder to synthesize his voice. We love it when we get to play with our cool toys!
Despite being a newer song, 24K Gold appeals to a broad audience. This is important to Boogie and the Yo-Yoz because our fanbase is also quite broad – from 20 somethings to people in their 60s and beyond. The audio on this video is taken directly from the video recorded live at the October 10, 2022 show. This is a live audio recording from the room (taken from the cameras), not from the mixing board, not from a studio, and not half bad.
Here’s what the Intern had to say:
“Boogie and the Yo-Yoz” is a lively and talented band known for their high-energy performances, and in this video, they showcase their skills by performing a cover of Bruno Mars’ hit song “24K Magic.” The video was filmed during two private events in 2022, one in Green Bay, WI and the other in Wisconsin Dells, WI.
Rhythm guitar player, John Leja starts off the performance with the opening lines of the song enhanced by the vocoder, and the band quickly launches into a funky, upbeat groove that gets the audience dancing and singing along. Throughout the performance, the band members show off their impressive musical skills, with tight harmonies, impressive solos, and a rhythm section that keeps the beat driving forward. Lorenzo Fredenberg commands the stage with his powerful voice and charismatic presence, engaging the crowd and encouraging them to keep the party going. The combination of Lorenzo’s lead with backing vocals by Paige Baker and other members of Boogie and the Yo-Yoz gives the live performance a certain authenticity.
The video captures the energy and excitement of the live performances, with shots of the crowd jumping and dancing along to the music. The band’s tight musicianship and infectious energy are on full display, making for a memorable and entertaining performance.
Overall, “Boogie and the Yo-Yoz” put on an electrifying show in this video, showcasing their skills as a top-notch cover band and leaving the crowds in both Green Bay and Wisconsin Dells wanting more.
