Kevin Baker was born and raised in Pulaski, WI. He currently resides (with his beautiful wife Paige) in Green Bay, WI where he works at Instrumental Music Company as the Office Manager and Drum Instructor. Kevin has been drumming since the age of 10 (30+ years), and his main drum influences are not too different from almost every drummer on the planet: Carter Beauford, Neil Peart, Jeff Porcaro, John Bonham, Steve Smith, Dennis Chambers, Todd Sucherman and Siros Vaziri, to name a few.
Kevin has studied music at both UW-Green Bay and UW-Stevens Point. While drumming is his main gig, which he loves, writing music might be an even bigger passion in his life. Whether it be composing or arranging, Kevin’s biggest thrill is hearing sounds come together the way he intended. That is his creative outlet, and his greatest writing accomplishment thus far has been his work for Boogie’s Christmas show “Christmas With You.” Kevin pours his heart and soul into the music for that show, arranging not only for Boogie’s 8-piece group, but also for a choir and a string quartet. Kevin Baker’s 20+ years with Boogie and the Yo-Yoz has taken him all over the upper Midwest and beyond. He has been fortunate enough to perform in Hawaii, Arizona, Orlando, Miami, Chicago, Denver, the Bahamas, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, Akumal and Cancun, Mexico!
Kevin also has a YouTube channel where he likes to post videos that give a different perspective to the average concert goer. The series is entitled “Behind the Skins” and displays video and audio from the drummer’s point of view at several Boogie shows.
