This video of Boogie and the Yo-Yoz performing “Callin’ Baton Rouge” is one of our favorites. We often get bits of video from live performances, but rarely are we treated to a complete song. Also rarely does it come with fully engineered audio. Instead, we typically hear bad cellphone recordings of the audio as it sounds back stage or just in front of the main speakers. As a result, they rarely do the band justice. This one is an exception – good audio with decent video. The one drawback on this is the bald guy that steps in front of the camera halfway through and doesn’t leave… oh well… it’s still not a bad watch. Plus, it features the recently retired Steve Olson on lead vocals.
Here’s what the Intern had to say about it:
Boogie and the Yo-Yoz took the stage at the ICC, an electric atmosphere filling the venue. The crowd was eager for their performance of “Callin’ Baton Rouge”. The band, known for their energetic and dynamic sound, did not disappoint. Lead vocalist Steve Olson commanded the stage with his powerful voice, belting out the lyrics to the upbeat song. The rest of the band, consisting of guitarists, bassists, drummers and a horn section, provided a rhythmic and soulful backing. The song was also a great soprano sax feature for the ever talented Jacob Opperman. The crowd was on their feet, dancing and singing along to the catchy chorus. The ICC was alive with the sound of “Callin’ Baton Rouge”, as Boogie and the Yo-Yoz delivered a performance that had the audience begging for more.
