Rhythm Guitar, Vocals, Trumpet
John Leja lives in Appleton WI and likes to do literally everything. When he isn’t playing music, he’s kayaking, hiking, camping, discing, skiing, or playing even more music. Since he started playing his brother’s recorder in the 1st grade, he has been hooked since. In order of instruments learned, John knows how to play: Recorder, Piano, Percussion, Guitar, Saxophone, Accordion, Trumpet, Flute, Clarinet, Bassoon, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba. Basically, throw John an instrument and see if he can play it. If he can’t, he can at least learn it in a couple of minutes.
Music Teaching is a big passion of John’s. He currently teaches high school band in Hortonville Wisconsin where he trains future cover band members. John has always enjoyed teaching, and hopes to inspire many students and young musicians.
John Leja also composes and writes his own music for many different groups. He is band leader for his band, Same Same but Different, where John sings and plays guitar with fellow Boogie band member Jacob Opperman. John also has composed percussion pieces that have been sold worldwide to places like Bangkok, Argentina, Sweden, and Texas.
Some of John Leja’s current projects include:
- Boogie and the Yo-Yoz – The Midwest’s premier party band with covers the whole family can enjoy!
- Same Same But Different – An original indie/alternative rock group
